About the Role
This intern pharmacist role will provide a comprehensive, effective and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and staff in Te Tai Tokerau - Northland, primarily based at Whangarei Hospital.
Remuneration for this role is Step 1 $77,087 ($37.06 per hour) for full time equivalent.
Our intern training programme complements that of the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand, and includes clinical ward pharmacy, dispensing, cancer blood services, informatics and medicines information. You will gain competence and confidence by working closely with our experienced pharmacists in areas such as Surgery, General Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Mental Health and Paediatrics.
About the Team/Service/Location
Whangarei Hospital is a medium sized (approximately 260 beds) secondary hospital located in Whangarei (approximately 2 hours north of Auckland) and is unique in terms of the diverse, high-needs population we serve. Our service is committed to providing excellent patient-centred care and achieving equitable health outcomes through collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.
With a talented team of approximately 20 pharmacists, we provide clinical pharmacy services to areas across Medicine, Surgery, Older People's Health Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Children's Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cancer and Blood services and Renal services.
We can offer you individualised support to complete your intern training year and to develop clinical skills across disciplines and opportunities for clinical career development. We will also reimburse PSNZ EVOLVE training fees and Intern Pharmacist APC.

About you
- Completion of a BPharm degree
- Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current Annual Practising Certificate for Intern Pharmacist from the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand https://pharmacycouncil.org.nz/i-want-to-practise-in-new-zealand/
