About the Role
As part of the Nelson Marlborough hospital pharmacy service, you will play a key role in ensuring safe and effective medication management for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
As a pharmacist, you are responsible for:
- Dispensing and supplying medications in accordance with hospital protocols and national standards
- Providing clinical pharmacy services, including medicines reconciliation and optimization of treatments
- Offering professional advice to healthcare teams, patients, and caregivers to promote safe medication use
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital guidelines for medication management
- Supporting stock management, including procurement and safe storage of medicines
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes
- Working flexibly to cover shifts in Nelson (and Wairau when required)

The Nelson Hospital Pharmacy Team is a dedicated group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns who provide safe and effective medication management across hospital wards, outpatient services, and community healthcare. We work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure optimal medication use and patient outcomes. About you
- Relevant experience in hospital pharmacy, ideally with a focus on clinical pharmacy. However, qualified pharmacist with a passion for hospital pharmacy would also be considered.
- Hold registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy council and Annual Practicing Certificate or be eligible.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety
- Flexibility to work across Nelson and Wairau as needed
