The opportunity:
We have an opportunity available for a motivated pharmacist, with or without clinical experience to join our dynamic and ambitious Clinical Pharmacy Service based at Middlemore Hospital.
With a talented team of around 50 clinical pharmacists, we provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas spanning across Medicine, Surgery (including National Burns Centre Spinal Unit), Older People's Health Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Women's Children's Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases Antimicrobial Stewardship, Palliative Care, Complex Pain, Refugee Health and Medicines Information.
Main responsibilities for clinical pharmacists include:
Providing clinical pharmacy services to our inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, medication review and optimisation, discharge facilitation, patient counselling and attending ward rounds/MDTs
Promoting evidence-based medicine and patient-centred care
Contributing towards quality improvement and medication safety initiatives
Continuing to grow your clinical expertise and contributing to education and training of your colleagues and other professions
Supporting other aspects of the pharmacy service such as inpatient dispensary and on-call service
We are looking for a pharmacist who is:
Eligible to work in New Zealand
New Zealand Registered Pharmacist with current APC or eligibility to obtain one
Able to work flexible hours (such as participating in our extended service hours, on-call and weekend rosters)
Previous clinical experience in hospital pharmacy preferred but not essential
Patient-focused, enthusiastic and driven
Excellent communicator with sound problem-solving skills
Curious, reflective and motivated in continuous improvement and lifelong learning
